When should I sell?

Dear Mr Tan

I had bought a Greatlink Growth Plan using my S10K cpf money in 2000. Today, it is valued at 26k. Now, the question is when should I sell it?

REPLY.

If you are investing for the long term, you can keep the investment. If you are investing for the short time, now is a good time to sell.

If you do not need the money in the near term(5 yrs), you can remain.

If you need the money in the near term(less than 5 yrs), you may switch to a fund with conservative portfolio.

If you need the money very soon (1-2), you may sell now and get into the money market fund.

It will be a good feeling to liquidate half, it is as good as realising the principle, and investing the profits.

Past 15 years, we have seen 3 dips, will next year of so, see the crash coming?

Anyway, how more upside will there be at today's bullish level.

Even so, you will have half to move forward, and half to feel good liquidate.
