Cycling on pedestrain walks

There is some debate on whether cyclists should be allowed to ride on pedestrain walks.

Let us look at the underlying problems:

* there is insufficient bicycle paths
* cyclists cannot ride on the roads (as it is dangerous)
* so, they ride on pedestrain paths (which is harmful to pedestrains).

Can bicycle be used for local transport?

* it is not practical, due to our weather
* there is a need for storage space at MRT or bus stops

The solution?

* have low cost, feeder service for local transport.

  1. Both cyclists and pedestrains must cooperate in order for things to work.
But as you know this is difficult because in Singapore everyone insists on their right. The pedetrains are getting delicate and flimsy; everything cannot; scared. The cyclists are who cares type and are like hell racers. When you have these two types nothing works; resulting in chee kee ku chee kee. This is a society which has come into two extra cents.Tolerance is a dirty word.

  2. I ride a bicycle to the MRT station everyday. Its useful for those who are a few bus-stop from the MRT. It help me save $1-$2 dollars everyday and help me exercise a bit.

I slow down and ring my bell whenever there is a pedestrian in front. I make sure the pedestrian is aware of my presence.
They usually move to the side.

As for riding on the road, its simply too dangerous.

  3. Both pedestrians and cyclists are humans with (human) rights. Since there's a conflict of interest (and it's in Singapore), the government has to make the call.

Alternatively, let the parties decide. For me, for the pedestrian! Yay! ;-)
