During the past 14 days, my Toyota Camry car consumed $105 in petrol (50 litres) and travelled 442 kms. The consumption is 8.7 km per litre ($2.08), or 24 cents per km.
Mr Tan, if you will be switching cars soon, do consider a hybrid vehicle. The Toyota Pirus's fuel efficiency is almost double that of a Camry.
Toyota's ICE (internal combustion engine) is 1.5l and uses regenerative braking to charge its batteries. The efficiency comes when the engine obtains its energy from different sources at different times.
There are several hybrid models around but if efficiency is your goal, choose a car with as small a capacity as you can accept. Having a large ICE defeats the purpose of a hybrid because the average efficiency is lowered when you have such a huge capacity ICE.

8.7 km/liter is awful. I agree with previous comment that switching car is a good idea. toyota prius is a good choice. it is at least twice more efficient in city driving than a regular camry at about the same price.
If you're not looking to switch cars, how about installing a CNG tank in your car? My brother told me we can install a CNG tank in our cars, so we can switch between petrol and CNG. And CNG costs only a fraction of petrol.
