The passenger has to disembark the MRT train using the right or left door, depending on the station. Although I am a regular traveller, I have to look out of the windows to see which side has the platform.
It will be useful for the train to display a green light on the door that will open at the next station. This helps the passenger to get ready to use the right door.
I wonder why cities like Hong Kong and even Guangzhou can have this simple feature, but our world class transport systems cannot.
ReplyDelete...don't depend on the green light..check first if the door opens to the station that we are alighting...
ReplyDeleteMost stations are on the right, so if you are unsure, you should stand on the right.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if you are unsure, it means it's very likely the station is on the left!
Come to think of it, I remember that announcement is made before hand for key and transfer stations in some countries. However, there are two key stations for transfer here, probably the train operators may not think it is necessary.
ReplyDeleteAnother suggestion is to add into the existing announce when approaching a stop as:
ReplyDelete"We are approaching Mas Selamat station. Please use the doors to your left/right. Bye and Good day"
In this way the blind will also be served.
I took the MRT in Shenzhen recently and it was really a very good experience. It seems that the trains came from a German company and it has all those indicators mentioned. The videos are also working, unlike ours.
ReplyDeleteI am worried that a first world country MRT is not as good as a third world country's MRT.
