Joke: Can I sell you a policy?

A super genius goes in to see a doctor. "Doc," the genius says, "I think I'm too smart. I'm having trouble even communicating with people because we have no common frame of reference, and it's ruining my social life. Can anything be done?"

The doctor runs a series of tests on the genius, and indeed finds that he is too smart. He says, "Currently, your IQ is 250, which is vastly superior to an average man. This is why your having trouble communicating. I do have a cure, however. I have a machine that will drain away some of your intellegence, leaving you with an IQ of 160. You'll still be a genius, but you should be able to lead a normal life as well."

The genius immediately agrees to the treatment, so the doctor straps him into the machine.Just as the doctor turns on the device, he gets a phone call from his ex-wife. They have a heated phone conversation for several minutes before the doctor remembers his patient. He rushes back, and is shocked when he sees the IQ readout at 75.

The doctor says, "Are you all right?"The former genius just stares blankly. The doctor shakes him, saying "Say Something."

The former genius replies, "Can I interest you in a health insurance policy?"

  1. Kin Lian,

You seem to be spurning so many jokes. Ok let's get a little serious.

What happens to all the issues regarding NTUC Income terminal bonuses and your wife SP policy?

Are you wanting to renew your protest for coming AGM 2009. If you do, we need to strategise to win. This time please don't throw the towel too fast ok?

  2. Manner is the external symbol of man’s inner nature. It indicates his character. But sometimes it hides the real character of a man. A man may be rough or rude to others outwardly but in worldly he may have a good heart...

  3. Insurance salesmen have low IQ of 75?
You are wrong. The insurance salesmen
are scheming cheats chameleon and masters of illusion and deceptions.
    You call them low IQ?
Watch their antics during a presentation and when they are not. They switch between their true and phoney self easily. They may appear schizophrenic but they are actually high IQ cheats and scammers.

  4. Zhummmeng,
Do not always blame the agents. I think the management is the one that has to shoulder the responsibilities. Whatever the IQ of the agents, you can be sure the management IQ should be even higher.
    Siew Khim,
Yes, I agree with you that we need to strategise. Mr. Tan seems to have moved on on this issue. Now he is just cracking jokes and enjoying his retirement. But we cannot blame him as he is entitled to his own life and does not owe anyone anything. We all have to strategise. It is plain that NTUC Income is no longer interested in those who have bought the policies many years ago as we are the lot who will not buy anymore from them. They are also unfazed that we should surrender those policies we bought as by reducing the annual bonuses, we are losing anyway when we surrender since the risks for us dying has increased with each passing day also.
So the lesson to learn is that our government whom we have elected and has Div 1 people at the helm has knowingly left us to the dogs.

  5. My 95/5% rule states that 5% of the insurance agent population are ethical, honest and competent and the rest are dishonest, incompetent and unethical. This 95% figure fits nicely into the scheme of things for the companies. The companies exploit them by designing high profit but useless rip off products and use this group of greedy, incompetent and dishonest agents to push and peddle them to the unwary and gullible public.
Many times i have brought for attention what one local insurance company agents are doing at the roadshows by selling rip off dubious 'buy one get one free' scam.
This scam entails the customers buying a cashback anticipated endowment to fund another product like limited payment whole life product. This is churning and it is illegal. The company pretends not to know so long the agents bring in the sales and so is the regulatory aurthority which seems to 'bochap'.
You can see the collusion between the companies and their agents. Both make big money at the expense of the customers. Worse is most of the victims are poor people and the ordinary man in the street. The rich are clever. They are not interested in the run of mill insurance salesmen disguised as senior consultants or planners or wealth managers.
I know of some real ethical competent advisers. They don't recommend products that are not good and that short change their customers. They are not driven by product promotions or commission but by their passion to help the consumers, to give them a fair deal.. They are also conscience driven and would not accept and to be drawn in by reason that "if you don't rob the customers others will and you must as well rob them" and which many of the unethical agents practise. The good ones suffer not because of a few black sheep but many, 95% of the population are "black sheep" if you include the honest and sincere but incompetent agents because they do more and worse damages.
