I think locally, creating jobs only helps jobless people tide over this difficult period, not much help for the whole economy.
The only way for us to recover is for the US jobs market to pick up and that is not happening soon. Even if it does happen, the effect will not be felt immediately. Demand for manufactured goods can only come when people have jobs. Everything is inter-related - demand for goods generates jobs which enables people to spend.
If you look at the stock market, it does paint a rosy picture now, but the underlying foundation suggests anything resembling a recovery.

As long as majority are not jobless, it is OK.
