  1. Mr.Tan, I thought meeting at the park is free? Is it for light refreshments?

  2. The online donation is provided at the request of some readers, who are not able to attend the Gathering but wishes to contribute towards its cost.

We have to make banners and placards and pay other expenses of the Gathering.

Some people wanted to donate to show support. Be generous. Think about the group effort and not just on your personal benefit. There will be no refreshments. Bring it yourself.

  3. I know the money is small amount, but just want to clarify.

What will happen to the excess money collected? Will there be open and proper accounting?

  4. No problem, Mr Tan. Banners and Posters to drive a visual message across. If can link MB with the FIs visually, it will be good. Also can consider "MAS - Do the right thing" or "MAS - Where are you when S'porean needed help?"

    Good work, Sir.

  5. I fully support. On several occassions, I have noticed Mr Tan used his personal money to help us in organising the past events.

I believe any amount of donation should be OK.

  6. I fully support the donation. For transparancy and accountability, it would be better that an expenses report be published and audited?

  7. Earlier I wanted to put a donation box on 22 August to collect donations to meet the expenses. Somebody asked for online donations, as they wish to support and could not attend the meeting.

I mentioned earlier that I am personally covering any shortfall, but any exess will be donated to FISCA (financial services consumer association).

I find it unnecessary for people, who remain anonymous, to question the need for audit etc. If you do not trust me, please do not send any donation, but do not ask these type of insulting questions.

  8. Please remember J B J has been charged for public soliciting money without permit. I will donate some small money to your POSB a/c. Please appreciate his works for the victims. Cost for the banner, transport, equipment etc is nothing compared with the manpower cost for his team and himself!

  9. Mr. Tan, no need to care what other people think. Do the right thing and continue to lead us towards MB closure. We, as the MB supporters, should continue to contribute as we recognize the sacrifice and time you and your team have spent doing this since Sept 08. Right now the important thing is to continue to make this issue visible, hopefully stretch it all the way to election day.

  10. Yes i agree with Mr.Tan. If you are worried about transparency, etc... then don't donate. No one is forcing you to do so. And based on all of Mr. Tan's effort you should be well aware of his integrity. What will he gain by making a few tens of dollars or even a few hundred of dollars?? Only fools would think otherwise... and stop making things more complicated than it is (creating red-tape where it should'nt be).

  11. Mr Tan, Thanks for allowing the use of your personal account to facilitate on-line donation. I will donate and require no publication of a donation list. This is not necessary and a waste of effort. Like many others, I trust you, and your good work is there for all to see. It is really insulting to ask for audit this and that etc. I fully agree with you that if one has no trust in the organiser of the event, then one just does not donate.

  12. Personally, if you have been following this blog, you would find that Mr Tan has a higher standard of integrity than most people...dont think he is interested in your kuching kurup amount!

  13. I think everybody can trust TKL for collecting some petty cash to do the necessary. But an interesting point highlighted by one of the posts.. the incumbent could get you in trouble for "soliciting public money without a permit". Make sure you are on the right side of the laws, Mr Tan. Be careful. We support you, be careful the devil is after you.

  14. Here is my reply to the poster of 3:50 pm

Can you give me the wordings of the law that J B J was charged? You mentioned "public soliciting for money without a permit".

    I like to ask:
    a) what is public?
    b) what is soliciting?

I know of many instances where people receive donations from the friends, well wishers and the public, e.g. at funerals, without being charged for any offence.

Even grassroot organistions collect donations regularly, without a police permit.

If the public prosecutor is keen to exercise his duty, I suggest that he goes after the many cases of "cheating", which is giving "misleading information". The minibond cases would be a good starting point.

I urge Singaporeans to have courage and not over-react to perceived and unfounded fear. If I break any law, let the police come and tell me, and then I will decide what to do. I do not like well wishers to cast unfounded fear.

  15. I cannot quite remember the details how JBJ was charged. I think there was an appeal letter in the Hammer and he was selling the Hammer in the Peninsula Plaza and the Police caught him. I know he was very unfairly treated here. I still support you and donate to your POSB a/c.Please continue to lead us the minibond investors.

  16. If you're afraid, uncomfortable to associate yourself with this worthy cause of donating for this gathering then don't force yourself. Even in charity donation there are good & bad hats. GOD will reward those who help others & those who help themselves.

  17. what about those not so internet savvy. Can we donate on 22 Aug? If nothing else it is just to support good guys against the cheats.
