In my Opinion, I find that there is a fine line betwween suicide and euthansia.
I understand the clear distinction between 'prolong life' and 'prolong death' but if one's life in the older years is spent unhappily due to illness and physical ailmnents, prolonging of life is akin to prolonging of death.
Some people live their lives, others simply exist, the choice is ours to take.
But the consequence of a person's choice must not be bourne by others. People who chooses to prolong their own existence should not receive govt subsidy. I certainly don't want the govt to use my tax money that way.
We have to support the Minister of Health, Khaw Boon Wan, in his practical approach to this matter. He knows what needs to be done, and what should not be done, as it is wasteful and unnecessary.
It is difficult for him to make these types of decisions, but so far, I have seen him make the decisions that I agree with.
Many people dislike him for the suggestion of using nursing homes in Johore Bahru or Batam. But I find the criticism to be too emotional. We should keep our minds open to these options. We can take individual decision to accept or reject the option, but we should not attack the Minister for suggesting it.
