Petition to the Prime Minister

I have sent the Petition to the Prime Minister. It is dated 26 August and contained 777 signatures. The Prime Minister's Office has acknowledged the letter and sent it to the Monetary Authority of Singapore. I hope that they will pay attention to the Prime Minister's request.

Petition.

  2. If PM just plays the role of a postman, then no hope la.

  3. The more "the Petition Letter" is being passed around is better ... at least we can see how many ministers are not interested. Sorry, I don't if I am saying the right thing.

  4. PM will post with "comments". Maybe still got hope lah, depending on the "comments". But definitely MAS will not treat the "comments" lightly just like you won't treat your boss's "comments" lightly.

  5. Some people may be disappointed that the hard work is wasted, if the Prime Minister does not care.

They should look at a different angle. 777 people have studied the issue and signed the Petition. These people now know the issues more clearly.

We should be patient and continue to find ways to put our views across. We should not expect miracle results.

The bigger goal should be to change how things are run in Singapore. Every situation, such as this, add to the process of change.

  6. Dear Mr Tan,

Can you keep the petition alive on your blog for further signitures? If we can reach to 1000 one day, we can submit one more time to remind the PM case is not close yet.

  7. Hi 12:17:

The whole problem is PM Lee most likely will not pass any comment. He always avoid this problem.

A few victims (AMK GRC constituents) tried to get appointment to see him in person during the early stage of this saga but NEVER have the chance. He just "sian".

  9. Yes, we should never give up hope.

The Jews have been hoping for more than 2,000 years for a homeland of their own.

Their hope and faith have been rewarded with the birth of Israel.

We should emulate the Israelis and become the hub of hope of all mankind. A kind of Hope-tropolis.

Friday is D-Day for GE investors

The Straits Times and the New Paper have been quick to report new development. Is this the Govt way of pressurizing FIs to do the same as GE?

    If FIs don't, what then?

  11. PM will say--there is a due process to file your complaints............ and hope victims will eventually simply give up after passage of time. This is the kind of govt running this country.

  12. Even though I signed the petition, I do not harbour hopes on getting my money back. It is useless to complain to your MPs even though your MP is PM Lee. Nobody can make decisions, the decision lies only with old man Lee. He says no compemsation is really no compensation. But I would still support TKL in all his efforts, even helping him to get votes for election, either as a independent MP or the presidency, just to get even with this dida apa Govt.

  13. I am also a victim of this minibond thing, and will not take side as I now realise it's useless to keep barking like a mad dog. MAS has to feign "Tidak Apa" as they are powerless to take more concrete action. They are embarassed by the whole episode but they are controlled by someone above their rank.
The body language shown by PM Lee (by passing the petition to MAS) can be read that he is powerless to help us.
It's good that FISCA is established as an attempt to give independent advice to consumers, as our CASE in Singapore also have its hands and feet bound tightly by our political establishment. CASE's silence is deafening in camparison with Hongkong. Having to set up FISCA indicates the low level of trust in our Govt institutions.

  14. Fellow citizens, sending petition to PM is one way of expressing our feeling. Even if government does not do anything, do not feel discouraged about it. At least we have make our view known. I still feel that the government is doing something behind the scence. Carry on fighting eg join class action etc.

  15. Sending petitions again & again to put pressure on garmen is one way of venting the people's anger, unhappiness, frustration at garmen for their indifferent, aloof, arrogant behaviour & for not showing their compassion & understanding to help the people in time of needs & troubles. More effective & forceful way when sending & getting publish in all the mass media to show the people's power, togetherness & unity to fight for the same common causes & grievances related to MB, HN5, PN, etc.
