Singapore system getting rotten?

Dear Mr. Tan,
I hope that our top leaders realise that the Singapore system is getting rotten:
a) So much cheating going on
b) People in charge are not taking action - just passing the buck around
c) No sense of duty or pride

  1. We could learn a lot from history. Remember the Roman Emperor Nero, who played the harp while Rome was burning. This led to the downfall of the Great Roman Empire.

  2. Two standards, one for foreign and one for local.
    In the face of pressure from foreign governments to be transparent in the financial dealing our ghament yielded but as for the local financial institutions with locals MAS is protecting the FIs. Where got hope?

  3. Some people in charge have no guts to take action, to be different and to bear the risk of trying new ideas. They just follow the routine but actually do nothing. It is worse than corruption..., to some extent.

  4. Perhaps it is time for a change.

    In 2006, I was one of the 66.6% who gave the current government a chance to prove itself.

    During the last 3 years, I observed that the system does not seem to work well for the people.

    From the way MAS handles the minibond issue, the way GIC/Temasek invested the people's money without restrictions, the way the rubber-stamping was done (within a week), how the CPF turned from a useful tool to a useless tool for retirement and most recently, how the CPF Life is structured, I am wondering if my choice is still right.

    Perhaps an alternative voice is really necessary. Instead of PAP, we must have another party. Maybe this party called A People's Alliance or APA in short.

    PAP and APA should be equal in power and representation like the USA's Democrats and Republicans.

    Just imagine, after working for 10 over years, graduates become LT unemployed. How are they going to survive for the rest of teir life??
    Once drop out in the 30s, it is almost impossible to find a decent jobs again.
    Must think of ways to help the younger generation who are just average or above average.

  6. Our 3rd generation leaders are all golden-spoon- feed scholars. They have lost touch with the ground. They do not understand the real problems.

    As electorates, if we allow this to continue, Singapore will be doomed in 5 to 10 years time.

The lethargic inability of the civil servants in the Govt is due to the high rumeration of these people, so there is no incentive to work beyond what is actally required, why rock the boat and jeopardise one's position. The real local talent is in the private sector, only the less able work in the Govt or govt-related industries. Just look at Chartered Industries,
    they are overstaffed with spoon-fed engineers who would not be given a chance to grow, being stifled by bureacracy, it's no wonder they could not beat Taiwan's wafer industries, simply Chartered could not compete with the world's chip companies. This top-down way of managing things is the Communist way, and it stifles initiative, innovation and creativity, just like in a Communist commune.
