Gerrymandering and election

Gerrymandering is the redrawing of electoral districts to benefit the incumbent in an election. It is practiced in New York and is considered to be corrupt.

  1. Gerrymandering is considered natural in Singapore. Bradell Heights in the middle of Serangoon is drawn into Marine Parade GRC.

  2. Our "1st class" ruling party can't be "corrupted"?

  4. Any form of corruption in other countries is deemed business as usual when apply to Singie Government, not that they really feel embarrass about it, but feeling very proud and accomplished of Uniquely Singapore.

  5. If you look at Goh Chok Tong's Marine Parade GRC map, it stretches from Braddell all the way to the east coast. And also the most funny shape.

And it has 6 MPs, just like LKY's GRC.

Also Serangoons Gardens, a upper class area (formerly part of Marine Parade GRC) became part of Aljunied GRC in the 2006 elections.

    Why hah?

  6. The same law should be in place here. I believe many Singaporeans are totally confused and lost on exactly which "town" they are really in; for which it could change every 5 years.

To me, the elections department should be absolutely independent, and not having anyone with political affilations and independent of the PM's office.

Also, GRCs should only be formed after the election; meaning say Marine Parade GRC is to be broken up to all single seats for the election, and if all candidates win, then the GRC can be formed back, else all are to remain as single seat.

This will truely make the MPs work for their vote, too often Singaporean have been forced to accept a new face for whom they have probably never seen nor spoke to before or even after the election. Not to mention, the MPs will have to be more mindful when commenting on the PEOPLEs complains and needs (there seem to have a upturn in the insensitive comments during the last few years).

  7. Braddell Heights used to be a single member constituency. I was told that during those years, voter support for PAP is only slightly above 50%. So they first absorb the whole of Braddell Heights into Marine Parade, and then subdivide half of it to Aljunied.

  9. Draw to win. No need explaination as usual. Just do it, it is the normal practice.

Anyway, after the MB saga, I have given up on those millionaires. I mind my own business and they mind theirs.

The way they do things make me hot. But again, what can I do? In the end, they still win the votes and life goes on. Let's not stress yourself talking about them. Just forget them and live your life to the fullest. Until the day they help you, you are as good as dead...

  10. I've also given up on those millionaires. They say they'll be corrupt or resign if they're not paid millions. Basically, this is called ransom as defined by the English dictionary. Nevermind, I'm hostage citizen, what to do?

They say must cut your wages to be competitive, cut your CPF to be competitive, nevermind also. What can you do? Unless you can afford resign or migrate. Even then, they're still superior to you. They simply take back your NRIC and passport, pay you your CPF balance and tell you to f*** off and never comeback ever again.

  11. I cannot remember the name of the candidate but he very definitely won Braddel Heights because i was there that night. His surname was Hwang and when the results came out, he was ready to come out, but they announced the PAP candidate as the eventual winner. Thereafter Braddel Heights became part of a GRC. The same went for MPD Nair. I met his wife and told her that the real winner for Yio Chu Kang was her husband, she agreed. They have been rigging the votes for a long time. That is the reason for ircn clad rule when you know you are not rgw govt of choice. They have forced themselves upon us, clammed our mouths, imprisoned those who have been voted by us to represent us, jailed elected candidates thereby ignoring the will of the people, looted our hard earned CPF, practising cronyism in the name of meritorcracy, widespread nepotism, vicious slander,ad infinitum.
