Display panels in MRT trains

The display panels in MRT trains on the North South lines are not showing the right information. The lighted maps have been not working. The display panels are now showing the wrong information about the next arriving station and the doors that will be opened.

I observed that the trains have been showing the wrong signals for nearly a month. Nobody seemed to be bothered to fix them. At least, the displays should be switched off.

Is this any sign of apathy in Singapore?

  1. I share your observation.

These are routine nitty gritty things which can be easily fixed but still it is not done.

Is there a manpower shortage, manpower attitude or a system problem in maintenance in SMRT?

  3. Law and Second Home Affairs Minister Shanmugam says "security of places like MRT depots should be a partnership between Government, private corporations and the public."
Straits Times, 21 June, Front Page Headlines, "Taxpayers should not pay for SMRT security", 1st column from the left.

So likewise, the display panels is also a partnership between SMRT, Government and the public.

Good, like high salaries, you don't call me. All the shit work like joint responsibility for security, donate my blood and etc., you call me.

  4. AS I have said before SMRT is a bochap and tardy transport operator.
Usually a female CEO is strict on the finer side of things, I think Ms Saw is only interested in the bottom line profits and delivering high dividend profits to shareholders, other than that, they are immaterial, and this include security and information issues. I think she does give a hoot to Singapore, as she is a Malaysian and out to make money for herself in bonuses.

  6. Just a symptom of 3rd-world monopolistic basic service mentality. Their staff can give you du-lan looks everyday and refuse to pick up phone calls from public. Becoz they know you got no choice --- everyday still got 1 million sheep taking the MRT, and giving them big bonuses.

It's just like some "popular" kopitiams. They know they have more than enuf customers, so there is no need to for any customer service. Ai lai mai suah! Kua si mi? Boh lui mai lai!
