Immigrants and fake degrees

Hi Mr Tan,
The community is beginning to experience such cases of fake degrees involving the Chinese (perhaps, immigrants) which hardly occurred in the past.....

Hope that the govt is able to weigh the consequences.  I am sure Singaporeans do not need such acts/behaviour to be around to influence our students/next generation or to cause any damage to our image.  Cheers.

  1. Not true...this happened many years ago. Immigration then was ill equiped and unable to detect and verify the authenticity of the degree, from China and India.
Some universities were fake ,degree mills, virtual and kept record of their "students' in case people called to verify. Immigration tried all means because they were not familiar with the thousands of universities. So they made an assumption that those with university degree should be able to speak English but then the worker agencies beat them in the game.
Why do you think that these people with university degree would work in the construction or in the demeaning works? It is happening still. Those with S-Pass have no degree qualification because it is easier to recruit S-Pass workers. The salary is faked. eg. these workers are $2500 but after receiving they have return half of it to the employer, an agreement negotiated by the agencies with FTs.
The immigration is being cheated under their nose and there is no means of detecting. In some cases the immigration may have also colluded with employment agencies.
MOM is real blind; the ministers are being fooled because they are stupid to beleive they are bringing in 'talents', in fact they are trash.
    Wake up .

  2. It has always occurred in the past, only most locals did not even think of it. With the recent elections, the relevant departments are forced to pay more attention and this discovery is the tip of the iceberg. There is a major disconnect with the Vision (of our leaders) and the Action ( of those on the ground implementating the vision) that results in all these major boos boos. One way is to cover up and pretend all is well till the bubble burst. The alternative is to dig up the truths and I am glad to see that is being done now. Hope they will continue with vigilance and not cover up when too many cases surfaced and it reflects too badly on the implementors. One way to prevent this is to ensure different ministries do the check and balances and not the same ministry otherwise the potential of cover up is greater. This is also why we need a two party system in Singapore otherwise when the crunch comes and it is all under the umbrella of one party, all it takes is one word from the very top to silence everything.

  3. Foreign trash mistaken for talents?
On second thought they are talented when it comes to cheating our not so talented MOM and ICA.
Check the talents from China and India they are very talented...they can fake anything from S-Pass to work permits etc to MBAs. Please check the Indian talents on your IT talent. I remember a friend told me that he found out a 'IT talent' has asked another Indian talent for
help during Sundays to help him out with IT talent work because he didn't have the talent to do what he was tasked to do.
Govt should be vigilant against these people.

  4. In addition to 'fake degrees', one of the most serious issues has hit many investors who put their hard earned money in Chinese Stocks.

In late 2000s, lots of Chinese Stocks were listed on SGX.Not understanding that those accounts were manipulated in China, many Singaporeans invested into these companies. Yes, SGS has started putting mechanism, but damange has been done.

From fake degrees, toxic foodstuff to standard for building structure/foundation being compromised by builder in China, all have demonstrated that the Chinese are greedy yet our learders call them 'hungry'.

    Uniquely Singapore!

  5. China is the king of fakes in the world - fake degrees, fake eggs, fake designer goods, oh practically fake everything.
But nothing more damaging to us is the FAKE DOCTORS, whether western or TCM type. Do the Authorities do detective checking up? So many China TCM Doctors here, are they for real?
The herbs they dispense are questionable too, Bao Zhong Tang TCM doctors at the SGH told us there are many fake herbs sold here.
