"I have never seen my country so divided, so unhappy, so sad."
That sentence sums up the heart of many Singaporeans. Since 2008 with Lehman's collapse, the GE of 2011, the PE of 2011, this trinity of events really wake up the slumbering masses, or the lunatic fringe, coined by one thinking he is a little LKY but rookie MP. The Chinese has a saying -
Stones impeding one's feet - LKY is the stones, stumbling the country's needed reforms required for our country's progress. With him still on the scene, the leaders have to take short-sighted and short cut measures to bump up GDP, which would do more harm than good in the long run. It would be Singapore's good, if the old man ....... Now the less radical and moderate sections of the PAP have to zip up their mouths, and go with group think, or else resign like what Danabalan, Tan Cheng Bok and Lim Boon Heng did. As for the newly minted little LKYs rookie MPs , they are there only for the easy money and exciting sense of being one of Elite group with power. Put these newbies out in the two wide oceans, they would come running home still clutching teddy bears. Dun see them earning their stripes to qualify for public service. Unfortunately for our country, those who qualify, dun want to join the PAP, nor do they wan to join the opposition for obvious reasons. Divided or polarized our country is at this watershed junction, woe betide Singapore, as Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand are waiting for us to fall flat on our face.
