Misleading advertisements

The consumer watchdog in Australia is taken legal action against a budget airline for misleading advertisements about their fares.

Misleading advertisements of a worse nature, are rampant in Singapore. We need to address this issue as well.

In Singapore insurance companies are also misleading the public with their ads, especailly the returns.Also they are using scare tactics to scare the public , like ntuc's recent morbid pictures of cancers and diseases for their Vivoscare product. The regulator should fine them for using such tactics.

  2. You are right. The insurance companies are resorting to fear. NTUC VivoSCARE is intended to be sold this way, to scare people into buying. This is unethical. 10 out of 10 doctors will tell you early detection of early stage cancer is very very difficult unless the person goes for check up EVERYDAY AND SPEND $1000 to detect it.To detect early stage cancer is like striking 1st prize TOTO.
    And why their salesmen are still pushing so aggressively? Commission, lah...they will do anyhting for commission, disregard the clients' interest.
    No wonder Mr. Tan proposed banning commission like Australia and UK are doing this year.
    Hope MAS will see the evil and ban the commission of all insurance products.
