I agree with the concern expressed by Raymond Lee on the conduct of the Committee of Inquiry on the breakdown of the MRT trains. http://www.todayonline.com/Voices/EDC120419-0000095/MRT-inquiry-seems-to-be-moving-on-the-wrong-track
The COI is supposed to be a fact finding exercise, but has turned out to be a "finger-pointing" exercise. It reflects the bad culture in Singapore that we should be ashamed of - pointing fingers, unwilling to take responsibility. Our leaders should avoid setting a bad example.
I am also concerned about the use of expensive lawyers, which will ultimately be paid out by the taxpayers and the commuters.
I ask our government leaders to act more responsibility in discharging their duties, in spending public funds and take care of the public interest.
Everybody takes note, as the COI is in progress, the share price of SMRT is going up, with the fees for the expensive lawyers borne by taxpayers. Why the need to go the legal way by engaging expensive lawyers to throw brickbats at each other, it's the Transport Ministry's responsibility to have a properly laid out line, starting from the early 1980s, before handing over to SMRT to run it. If wan to engage in the witch's hunt to taichi the blame on, then the PM's wife Ms Ho ching has to bear part of the blame, it was Ms Ho who engaged the former CEO Saw, a CEO who, out of boosting her remuneration package, engaged in retail property rental, rather than concentrating on rail maintenance to run a public transport business.
ReplyDeleteRather than playing a masak masak wayang to show the public Govt is conducting a COI, may as well spend money to completely overhaul the rail system, expensive high quality nuts, bolts
and claws, electrical wirings, etc., all included. Already the Govt is spending tax funds to mollycoddle the 2 public listed transport Companies to the tune of $1.2b, may as well spend more of precious citizens' money to give us a reliable, smooth running MRT system.
Otherwise very malu for the Govt to get brickbats from citizens, not that efficient and capable in governance anymore, just stop pointing fingers.
Yes, by all means mollycoddle SMRT some more, we wan an efficient MRT, it's not too much to ask for.
And SMRT is expecting more Govt funds, playing on the Govt's obsession with face saving its reputation, no wonder its share price is rising, and former CEO is also smiling.
Just cut out the expensive crap and roll out the camera for "Action please".
Getting lawyers to solve an engineering problem!
