There is a saying, do as the Romans do, and not the other way round, so the responsibility rests squarely with the newcomers to adapt. Try telling the Australians, "It's your responsibility to encompass the new Asian immigrants, mate, so learn Chinese, Hindi, Malay and other Asian languages to talk to them, you dun expect the newbies to speak English to you."
