Three decades ago, the cost in Singapore was also affordable, and that was before the Government decided to restructure the hospitals. We have the choice to go back to the old system. If you agree, share your views here. We will find a way to tell the Government.
But, the Government is worried about the high cost of health care and the demand for health care from elderly people. Perhaps, they should be brave to tell people, “When you are above 80, and it is time to die, no amount of medical care can cure you. It doesn’t matter if you are in Ward B2 or in a private hospital. Say your last goodbyes and leave your children with a fortune, instead of wiping out their savings.” Quote from Jeremy Ko's blog.

The Govt insist on being generous with themselves, but stingy on the citizens, what can you do?
ReplyDeleteAn advantage of a restructure hospital is ' PRIVATE LIMITED '. The CEO and its staff have a free hand on financial matter.
ReplyDeleteThe 'Pte Ltd' does not need to ask permission from MOF for purchase of medical equipment.
If you visit KTPH B2 & C class ward, you would find its bed and facilities are better than some of the private hospital. I thought this is a PLUS of restructure hospital.
ReplyDeleteA cause of expensive health care cost is advancement of medical technology - x-ray, MRI, CT, PET,Robot Surgery...Each equipment costs $million(s). In fact, patients are benefited. The question is how much does patient wish to pay/share the cost such hi-tec medical equipment?
ReplyDeleteWill SGrean patient agree to accept simple and cheap diagnostic equipment like 1960s at lower cost? If yes, SATA may be restructured to a low cost hospital with the help of MOH.
The last government hospital had been resturctured was AH. Before resturcture, its C ward was empty patients. SGrean afford to pay B1 and B2 Wards. It resulted B class ward was under supply !
ReplyDeleteAH (MOH) has to lease out C ward to NUH Private Limited where patients like it so much or over demanded ! They in fact wish to pay MORE !
To save tax $, AH become restructure hospital. It was not a prefered hospital for its old building ! Its A & E Dept. has short or no Q at all. Whereas NUH A/E dept was always long Q. (I was ex-worker of NUH A/E).
To encourage more patients to seek treatment at AH Pte Ltd. MOH brought in a businessman to lead. He recommends Toyata management system to AH P/L. It really provide a star service. The A/E dept is still has a shorter Q when patients complain a lot in the ST Forum about other hospital this and that. Why SGrean so afraid of AH P/L?
Prior KTPH is in operation, if my father fall very sick, I always rush him from Masiling to AH Emergency @Alexandra Road for immediate medical attention - NO Q.
Now, AH P/L@Alexandra Rd is under Jurong Healthcare Group. Let's see what SGrean is going to talk about it.
