Over a period of 35 years, several manpower ministers failed to find a solution to the challenge of getting employers to give preference to locals for jobs.
They kept to the same strategy - getting employer to pay a levy to employ foreigners and set limits on the proportion of foreign workforce.
The strategy did not work. Foreigners and employers were able to get round the loopholes.
Many jobs went to foreigners, leaving many locals unable to find good jobs.
How can this problem be solved?
Here is my suggestion.

ReplyDeleteLee Hsien Yang did our Prime Minister a great favor. The elderly will not vote PSP.
The reason they all have grown-up children and can relate how things are being played out.
PM Lee it will be nice to see you look healthy.
Brothers in the family are not impressed either.
