Singapore people pays too much taxes

The people of Singapore have to pay many layers of direct and indirect taxes.

The direct taxes are income tax, goods and services tax, vehicle taxes (including COE, road tax, petrol tax, parking fees and ERP), levy on foreign maids, taxes on liquor, tobacco, gambling and stamp duties.
Some of these taxes, such as COE and stamp duty on properties are big ticket items.
The indirect taxes are the low interest rate paid on Central Provident Fund savings (where the excess earnings become revenue to the government) and the high cost of housing (where a large part of the cost is revenue to the government).
The sale of state land is another large source of revenue to the government but it is accounted separately.
The government collects more revenue than is needed to provide the public goods. It generates a large surplus in most years, which are transferred to the national reserves or to various endowment funds (which are difficult to keep track of).
The alternative to generating a large surplus is to reduce the tax burden and lower the cost of living borne by the people.
Some of the government spending are unnecessary (such as the $550 million on ERP 2.0) or excessive (such as the very high salaries paid to political office holders). There are many other examples that have been quoted elsewhere
As the ordinary people struggle with the high cost of living, they should send a strong message in the coming general election that they want this important bread and butter issue to be addressed at its root cause.

I was able to easily increase my portfolio in just 3weeks of trading with his daily signals, growing my $3500 to $65,000. Mr Bernie’s daily signals are very accurate and yields a great positive return on investment. 3. Living conditions of the human species have retrogressed over time. In the olden days, 990 sq. ft.

equaled 2 bedrooms, but nowadays it is equivalent to 3 bedrooms plus 1 study. Those

individuals in Ridout, Oxley and 50 million dollar

homes seem to lack guilt regarding this disparity. They have no heart for the living.

It is wonder people everywhere feel so agitated all the time.

Looking Forward To Them Toh Tio This Coming Election. We Need People With Slight Empathy At Least To Feel For Our Fellow Human And Not Just There To Do A Job For Monetary Gain. They Suck.

  5. There are choices. If you don't mind some leaks here and there, you can consider buying the older, low-rise estate. They tend to be bigger in size, have lower prices per square foot, and have proper kitchens and washing areas. Plus, you can renovate them to suit your needs.

  7. Love Jokes.

LKY made an unannounced and ad-hoc visit to a show flat. He did not go around shaking hands. Like his usual brilliant and sophisticated awareness: 'This is not a game of cards. You cannot sell people million dollar homes with tiny-made furniture and cramp people like sardines.'
With his no-nonsense beat-around-the-bush:'This is inhumane. Humans are our only natural resources and we have been talking about mental health. No wonder births kept dipping and people have become wackos. Of course we need money but not with such greed. Noticed that during holidays, people are jumping across neighbouring countries to get space and destress. We cannot afford to keep driving out our people.'

Thank You LKY for your unwavering sincerity and generous concern.

  9. Leadership with a heart.

See your people through the eyes of empathy first – then eyes of culture, and finally the eyes of impact.

We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity.

  10. Whoever came up with the concept of forced savings through CPF has great talent. This lightens the burden of down payment and monthly loan servicing for the masses, which would otherwise be heavy.

  13. One thing is for sure. Prices cannot keep GST compounding upwards endlessly and the ones that govern our money cannot just anyhow dispense recklessly. There has to slow or end somewhere.

  16. It took a lot of work to trust the current government. After the Taylor Swift controversy involving the screwing of neighbors, they no longer uphold their principles. With the upcoming election, who will be screwed remains to be seen?

  18. 5 years ago, my vehicle cost $110,000 (COE $58,000)

As of now, the same vehicle is $190,000 (COE estimated $100,000)

The difference in COE is $42,000 but the difference in car price is $80,000?

    Wat is happening?

  19. Don't be sad in these three stages of life:

    (1) First Camp: 58 to 65 years

The workplace moves away from you.

No matter how successful or powerful you become during your career, you will be called an ordinary person. So, don't stick to the mindset and superiority complex of your previous job or business

    (2) Second Camp: 65 to 72 years

At this age, society slowly moves away from you. Your frequent friends and colleagues will reduce and hardly anyone will recognize you at your previous workplace.

Don't say "I was..." or "I was once..." because the younger generation will not recognize you, and you shouldn't feel bad about it!

    (3) Third Camp: 72 to 77 years

At this camp, the family will slowly move away from you. Even though you may have many children and grandchildren, most of the time you will be living with your partner or alone.

When your children visit occasionally, it is an expression of affection, so don't blame them for visiting less, because they are busy with their lives!

    And finally after 77+,
the earth wants to destroy you. At this time, don't be sad or grieve, because this is the last stage of life, and everyone will eventually follow this path!

So, while our body is still capable, live life to the fullest!

    Always be happy...
