There is an article in the international media that happiness does not increase with the wealth of a country. This article has relevance to Singapore. SGEP
A senior said he is wealthier now, as compared to his younger days, when he had to scrimp to put food on his family's table, and all squeezed into a small kampong dwelling. But he does not feel happier as his status increases up the ladder, instead he is longing for his kampong days wheree life is simpler, and the people more trustworthy. After losing some money to bank products gone busted, he finds people now very cunning, and now view every banker with suspicions, and all these looking over the shoulders make him unhappy. Quote from him " no money unhappy, got money also unhappy". The writer of article on wealth and happiness must surely be kidding.
