When a PM says sorry on the eve of the election, how could we take it at heart, instead worry more vindictive measures coming our way. He rather spend time thinking how to " fix" the WP team at Aljunied.
" .... he said that the election has been a good learning journey and at the strategic level, many PAP policies are right but their implementation and communication can be improved."
What is Vivian Bala talking about? It should all start with having the right policy clearly defined in the first place. The implementation and communication processes will come later.
No point talking about implementation and communication when PAP's policy is not right.
Dear all May I draw your attention to a remarkable daughter of Singapore, Ms Catherine Lim.
In my mind, Ms Lim was the first patriot to publicly call out the iceberg warning on board SS Titanic-Singapore. This was back in 3rd Sept 1994 (about 17 years ago).
"A patriot who must always be ready to protect the country from its Govt". Remember most vividly her bold question to MM Lee, if freak election results and PAP loses power, would the old man send in the army. Only Kate will dare ask, this woman who originally came from Penang, is truly a patriot of her adopted country, Singapore. Heard years ago her sister in Penang died from a drag and bag snatching incident, we pray for her soul to rest in peace. Should be proud what her sister, Kate, is doing here.

Respectfully, I understand the above is a highfalutin way of saying:
"It's business as usual"
Or
"We've dug ourselves into a hole. We will continue to dig. But we promise to use better tools in the future."
I stand ready to be corrected if I am wrong.
Soodo, you had it right on !
ReplyDeleteNo correction needed, as far as I understand what VB is trying to say.
How sad !
Let us see if the PM keep his words

Before and after 7 May:
ReplyDeleteThe change - more opposition MP
The NOT change - investors are buying SG gov bond.
Good writing. But the writer forgot to include the pension fund into the members' compensation.
ReplyDeleteOne distinctive trait that we have is this:
ReplyDelete"lets wait & see"
wait & see with NKF
wait & see with CPF
wait & see with MoM
Seems like a very long movie with vague dialogue.

The response from the Prime Minister's Office can be found here (for those too young to remember)

Back then, 17 years ago, I did NOT bother reading Catherine's article "PAP and the People – A Great Affective Divide".
I was a die-hard PAP believer.
I read the article this afternoon. It remains as fresh and relevant today as it did 17 years ago.
It is I who have a lot of repenting to do.
Catherine writes a blog.

She could rightfully say "I told you so" on 8 May 2011. She didn't.
Kate is a good example of
