If you are disqualified from contesting for any absurd reason, such as on the technicality that your former Company is not a Company, but a Cooperative, then many people would be very unhappy, and resentment against PAP would continue to flourish, and close our ears to the "Noises" made by the Govt, dismissing them as trash.
