The Law Minister had said that it is part of human nature to be corrupt. This has invited a rebuttal from a blogger.

Another "Yes" man's talking. Taxpayers have paid them too much for too long.
ReplyDeleteAgree with the law Minister corruption is part of human nature, esp in an Asian society since ancient times.
ReplyDeleteHowever, what we dun understand that PAP has always prided itself they have to pay well to avoid the temptation of corruption. Now what happens? So paying well dun mean less corruption, instead it has gone worst recently.
IT suppliers in the private sector have always complained privately, procurement officers in Govt Agencies have asked for bribes in kind instead of cash, like expensive I phones, while some highly paid heads of Depts like CPIB ask for free sex.
There is no such thing as incorruptibility tied to pay, when the pocket is full, human greed transforms itself in another kind.
We cannot accept that corruption is part of human nature. That is why we have laws to prevent corruption. We need better enforcement. We need leaders to set good examples of what is ethical and honest, so that people are clear that they have to act honestly and not corruptly.
ReplyDeleteOur leaders also have to tell the truth and not twist words and ideas, so that it is not clear what is honest and what is not.
