Size of HDB flat to start a family

Should the ideal size for a HDB flat for a young couple starting a family be a 3 room flat (700 sf) or a 4 room flat (1,000 sf). How much should it cost?

  1. Constructions are similar everywhere in terms of manpower and materials. Additionally, people are being brainwashed to believe that HDB is highly subsidized. However, we remain among the most expensive in the world for housing, alongside Hong Kong and Tokyo. People are not getting the full picture, using "land constraint" as a scapegoat. This is a situation where everything and everyone, except themselves, is to blame. They simply follow computer guidelines and if the computer says it works, then it must be true. With cramped living spaces, especially during holiday seasons, people are booking vacations to get away. All they seem to boast about is that most people own their homes. In most developed countries, renting a spacious house for $250 a week is the common norm, so why should people buy? I missed the old government where they have the heart for their people.

    1. Old government built executive and jumbo flats for the people. This government complains about not having enough land. Something is not adding up. Keep bringing in more foreigners

  2. According to Chua Mui Hong in Singapore, a SGD500, 000 can get you a 1000 sq. ft (she must be referring to HDB). She was trying to be polite in case of POFMA. Block 75C Redhill resale was exchanging hands for nearly a million dollars. She then went on to conclude in Perth where she currently resides that the same amount can get you a land and house 5 times bigger with no subsidies. Housing here is made from gold.

  3. If they knew their work, BTOS would not be so short in supply that people are forced to turn to resale. We have come to a stage where micro-managing in housing. Minister need Ridout for 3 generations housing. The general population takes what is given.

    1. When they built small bird cages for the people, their jobs would be more secure because they are cutting costs for the government. They are looking after themselves not mankind.

  4. Perceptions that Housing Board resale prices will continue getting higher are making home buyers anxious to secure a flat regardless of the price, while raising sellers’ expectations about how much their flats can fetch, said National Development Minister Desmond Lee.

People do lie but we did not realise that this fella can lie through his teeth. After this, our opinion of him dived even further. The solid reason was after years of trying and not able to get a BTO. With no other outlet and age catching up, it came to a point where even if we can secure one we cannot afford to wait for a few years. Their children do not have to go through what common folks have, with their kind of money. Fu*k Him

    1. Now that all the scapegoats had fled, the only solution was to rub salt on people's wounds.

  5. When a housing site is released for sale, the sellers may feel like they are doing people a favor by providing housing, but to the buyers, it's just business as usual for them to make more money.

  6. Since they are the sole decision makers that impact our lives, we cannot

afford to have small-minds and small eyes and small hearts, to be in charge

no matter what kind of qualifications they hold?

  7. It is evident that ministers and the people lead two different lives. The only contrast is that their neighbouring ones obtained theirs through stealing.

    1. Those at Ridout were born into money, their children and grandchildren will grow up with no backbone and spine. They will also want to request special offices when they work. It is evident the wives married for money.
