US President Obama makes an annual salary of US400,000 annually (excluding perks). China's Xi roughly salary US$20,000 annually. Fallen Bo Xilai and his family had hidden assets of $100 million. Former Prime Minister Wen Jiaboa's and his family members accumulate hidden wealth estimated at $2.5 billion. Officials earning less than the wealthy seemed to have more money.
In 2007, the Singapore government revised the minister's salary benchmark to the top earners due to minority criticism in social media which was amplified. During the 2011 general election, they only won by 60% of the votes and lost 6 seats. Was it their salary? Or what people wanted was a decent life, good pay, affordable housing, and a low cost of living?
How many voted for the common good? How many voted for their pockets and self-interest?
“You just look at the list of things which have come up, if you attend PAP speeches, soon you’ll have a long list of things to ask the Government for,” But when asked who will foot the bill, the parties ..........................
