Use SGQR instead of CDC Voucher

The governments gives $100 in CDC voucher for each household to spend at participating outlets in food centers.

This was quite troublesome as the outlet had to download another app to redeem the vouchers. They find the process to be quite troublesome. Many outlets are unwilling to participate.

I find this CDC voucher to be a bad concept.

Here is a better way to handle the scheme.

How to improve the birth rate in Singapore

Singapore has struggled to improve the birth rate during the past four decades. The strategies adopted failed.

I suggest the following strategy to improve the birth rate in Singapore.

Cut in interest rate will boost China stocks

China cut its benchmark interest rate for the first time since April 2020. It did not help the stock market. The cut was expected and rather small. Article

I believe that the sentiment towards China stock will change in the days ahead and China stocks will be stronger.

Here are my reasons:

Discussion between President Xi and President Putin - relating to financial transaction

I expect that the digital yuan (e-CNY) will be used for international transactions and as a reserve currency soon.

This will be an alternative to the USD/SWIFT.

In the recent meeting between President Xi Jinping of China and President Putin of Russia, this was one important topic.

Here is an opinion from an observer printed in the Asia Times.

An inefficient process to handle a dispute

There is something seriously wrong with the administration of justice in Singapore. I hope that the law minister will wake up and fix this problem.

How will China react to constant provocation by America?

America continue to provoke China by taking childish actions, such as inviting Taiwan to the Summit for Democracy and for the diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

China has promised strong retaliatory actions.

I make the following guess on the actions that China will take after the conclusion of the Olympics on 20 February 2022:

Shhh. My crystal ball NCB agree with my prediction.

WOTC - RK story

Wisdom of the Crowd: 78% of the respondents said that Raeesah Khan did not accompany the sexual assault victim to the police. She made up the story.

China is not perfect, but it is quite good

The China government is not perfect. It is possible to find out many areas of abuse, including human rights, or bad decisions at various levels of government, including the national government.

This applies to all governments, including the western countries.

We must not forget that China has the largest population in the world. If one looks for negative examples of bad government, one can find many.

On the whole, the China system of governance is probably the best in the world.

Update on Top Glove (BVA.SI)

I hold 60,000 shares of Top Glove and now see a large loss of $14,500.

I had expected the 1Q 2021 result (ended 30 Nov 2021) to be better than the previous quarter. I thought that their revenue should do well, as the ban from the US had been lifted.

But that did not occur. The revenue and earnings dropped. The suffered a large loss due to the purchase of own shares. It was probably written off during the quarter.

So, the stock price dropped to a 6 month low.

Never mind.

I think that the next quarter should be better. It probably takes a few months for the revenue and profit to improve.

On the other hand, the board had said that the demand will continue to be weak. That was negative

However, with omicron causing more cases around the world, the demand for gloves may improve.

On balance, I decided to buy another 20,000 shares.

Good luck to me.

Appoint more magistrates to hear simple cases

 Someone said.

I have a road bully case pending which was a year ago , I'm very disappointed about how the Police handling the case. It was certainly a crime and a very simple case. I made a report with video attached. The accused admitted he snapped my HP and damage it. Until no, no action was taken. I made several call to the investigating officer but he told me still under investigation. This is the efficiency of Police Force.

This is my perspective. I may be wrong.

Tip of the iceberg

The current PAP administration gives the phrase "tip of the iceberg" prominence.
The public only knows (most of time) when it happened to be "leaked" or "forced" to be revealed due to policies.
How much was and is lost due to poor prudence on purchases or on giving the approval on projects which turned out to be 'white elephants'?
Frightening revelation by the likes of Attorney General and various departments. More than a billion dollars had been pumped into our People Association and etc.
Singapore had been ranked the most expensive city in Asia (ahead of Hong Kong / New York) this year. Has the people (grassroots) lives improved?
In the mist of Covid pandemic / economic downturn, our authorities allow increase in property tax (even HDB - 85 plus % of the population lives in HDB), electricity and soon the "test balloon" GST would be implemented.
Almost religiously, we only hear of bad investment from our TH and sovereign funds from foreign newspapers. Yet the public is never shown the "books".
Why we are not allowed to know the remuneration of our TH senior management but it is OK to reveal Chiam ST GCE O or A levels results to the public?
Singaporeans needed to reminded our authorities we are made of flesh and bones, and not a consumables that can be discarded when become useless or non contributory anymore.
TKL reply.
I agree with the above comments (KS - this is an opinion only, OK?)

China's digital currency will be a reserve currency

I expect the digital yuan (or e-CNY) will be actively used for international transactions and as a reserve country after the 2002 Beijing Winter Olympics.

My reason is set out in this article. Please read it and give your opinion. Do you agree with my view?

Telling a "lie" to avoid disclosing identities of other people

Earlier, I shared this anecdote of a disastrous covid testing protocol.

Suppose the minister for health gets angry with me for sharing this anecdote.

Suppose he uses his POFMA or other ministerial power to demand that I disclose the name of my friend and the two dance instructors.

Suppose I do not wish to put these three people in the limelight and get them into trouble (for reasons that are peculiar to them).

What do I do? How do I get away from the pressure put by the minister.

I may say that I "lied" about this case. The case did not happen. I made up the story.

Hehehe.
What happens next?

Anecdote of a disastrous covid testing protocol

Collective sale of condominium - steps to a successful sale

In this article, I explain the steps that the owners have to go through to get a successful collective sale.

Most of the collective sales attempt fail in one of these steps. Only a small proportion of the sites are completed successfully.

Test positive rate - trend in recent weeks

I computed the test positive rate for the past few months.

It increased from 1% in early September to 15% by end October. It probably remained at this level for the subsequent weeks, but the number of tests were not available.

It is strange that the test positive rate would escalate sharply to 15%.

However, this is calculated on cases, of which over 90% are mild or asymptomatic.

Handling a feedback

I suggest the following steps for a government agency to handle the feedback from the public.

WOTC - By-election in Sengkang 2

Test positive rate for covid

There is a sharp drop in cases from 3,500 a day a few weeks ago, to the current level of 800 a day.

However, this could be due to a drop in the number of tests carried out.

If there are less tests, there were be less reported cases.

I hope that MOH will publish the figures of the test positive rate.

I have some findings here.
