More capacity for public transport

Here are my views.

1. The public transport operators should be required to put more trains and buses, to reduce the waiting time and provide more comfortable rides (i.e. seats) for the commuters.

2. The existing fares allows them to increase the capacity and still make a good rate of return. Currently, they are making excessive profits at the expense of commuters.

3. We need a better system of feeder buses to bring people to the MRT stations or bus terminals.

4. More improving public transport, there will be less demand for private cars and less congestion on the roads.

I hope that the Public Transport Council will hear and act on this view, which has been expressed by many commuters.

Not sure if anyone agrees with me public buses are sometimes filthy. Especially older buses like SMRT's.

But you cannot ignore the fact that cars are a status symbol in Singapore. People buy cars, despite the high costs and the depreciating aspect, also to impress friends, girlfriends, business clients or even strangers.
There are quite a few whom I know who don't really need one and I think could barely afford (based on their age, job & estimated pay) also own one.

Very true.
Some girls may be more attracted to guys with cars! Of course I cannot say all belong to this category.

Then find a girl that don't mind you not having a car. My wife went thru times when I don't even have a proper shoe to wear before our marriage. Such tough times make me value her a lot today.

Btw, our population just reached 4.5 million. Largely increase due to the influx of PRs. The frequency of our bus and MRT services don't seems to increase at such a rate.

Those who spend money on cars just to impress the girls may end up marrying the wrong sort of girl, who may then after marriage, flirt with another guy who owns a bigger and more luxurious car. What is the point then.
