I think the final outcome, which may be awhile in coming, will be a trade agreement that will benefit everyone.
I think that the U.S. will agree to back down on requiring the Chinese to make the new trade practices into law — which of course they wouldn’t follow anyway, so it’s meaningless.
That ought to be enough to allow the Chinese to sign the agreement without losing face, and I predict they will.
