I notice that for such questions, the complexity should go higher with:
(a) the number of hints with "A does something NEXT to B"
(b) the number of rows in the matrix

Some questions/suggestions related to making this type of puzzles more interesting:

1. What is the maximum number of (a) hints in a 5 by 5 matrix for which the puzzle is still solvable?

2. As the matrix goes bigger with (b), the hint can evolve to "A does something 'not more than x houses' away from B"

3. The houses are arranged in a circle instead of a straight line.

4. Hints like "A does something to the left of B".

Salesman play tennis. This is fun, did it in 10 min. I started from the first J puzzle just now and took more than 15 min! Now I'm much better :) I scribble the clues on paper as I read them, e.g. red--green (to indicate red house left of green) much more efficient this way.

Thanks, look forward to more such puzzles being posted.
