2) Most National Day Speeches, there will always be someone who was handpicked as a perfect model for studying hard, obtained fantastic grades, though he or she was not from well-off families and is now somebody as an excellent example. This led to the belief that good grades are everything and an upgrade in one's life. And because of their title, they should be respected
Now families spent money on the best tuition to obtain grades. It has become a country grabbing of good grades at the expense of everything else, it is OK that they have no soul, manners, empathy for others, filial piety, kindness or graciousness. It has become each for themselves.
This is the kind of society that we have been breeding today despite its wealth and infrastructures.
While the country has improved tremendously, peoples' lives are getting morer miserable.
3) An only son wants to buy a house as he was getting married and his future wife does not want to live with his parents. As his name and CPF was in the present house with his parents, his future wife was greatly against paying ABSD with for their new marital home. She insisted that the house be sold, take out his CPF for their new home. As his ageing parents did not have the means to cover, what amount the son retrieved out his CPF, they finally sold the home which the three of them had been living. The family nucleus was broken up and the ageing parents have not been on talking terms with their only son. The parents have bought a resale HDB flat. That is the kind of policy they provided to break-up families. If they genuinely needed to stabilise the property market the TDSR and a heavy money downpayment would have worked just fine. If needed to collect $120,000 for subsequent properties of $1000,000 home, then no matter what kind of explanation was ordered out, it just blatantly proves that there was no mental effort put into it, and their only capability all was money. Money is the one and only way to solve any problems.
