In the book - The White Tiger - the author describes the "Rooster Coop".
The roosters are kept in the coop and wait to be slaughtered for food. They are slaughtered one at a time, when a customer wants to buy a rooster.
The roosters watch other roosters being slaughtered and know that they turn will come.
They accept their fate. They do not fight to escape from the coop.
This is the life of the poor people in a country. The poor people accept the job of servants at low wages and miserable living conditions, but they remain honest and loyal to their masters.
While the author describe the condition of the poor in India, the same conditions apply to other countries.
The rich people own the land and collect a big portion of the meager earnings of the poor villagers. They employ thugs to intimidate and control the tenants.
