The Goverhment has been saying that unemployeent benefit is bad, as people will get lazy. Singaporeans have grown up to accept this arguement.

But things have changed. It is possible for a hard working person to lose a job, for factors beyond their control. They will have many financial commitments, paying off the loan on their expensive property and car. The loss of income will be disastrous.

It is time to offer some temporary relief through unemployment insurance.
