The next likely President of Singapore will be someone who has a capacity of 'Paradigm Shift' in order to quickly connect with a mass population. Too much trust and confidence have lost in the present leadership from their ways of handling all important issues, e.g. immigration/FT, CEO of Temasek Holdngs against meritocracy, insensitive approaches to high property prices, the nation's identity as a people and all ministers' pay of multi-million dollars in order to serve people well(a fatal one for the PAP) etc........

The mentioned 4 likely presidential candidates do not fit the criteria which the sophicated new-found electorates are anticipating. So they are unlikely to be elected. They should enjoy their retirements instead. My humble opinion.

The PAP endorsed candidate is likely to be either a senior civil servant (PS and above) or Chairman/CEO of a large Singapore company (GLC?). It is unlikely to be a former PAP politician. I did a blog posting about this here:

On second thought, agree with most people, "betterest" someone who is not connected with the PAP Govt before, and that includes CEO of GLCs and the PAP politically connected high level civil servants.
Someone completely from the private sector would please us, if PM is serious about reforms and change.
