Finding a job

Here is a summary of the reasons:
1. Job hopping
2. Outdated skills
3. Getting fired previously
4. Age (above 40)

Outdated skills

If a worker has stayed in a company for a long time, the learning of new skills can be very limited when that company does not adopt new systems.
The worker will be very proficient in systems that is applicable to that company only.
Hardly the fault of the worker.

Getting fired previously

Sometimes its retrenchment which is not the fault of the worker but there is a stigma.

Age ( above 40 )

Nothing can be done about this

Unemployed for more than 6 months

Because the worker has acquired skills relevant to his previous employment, new employers expect the new hire to have transferable skills. Sometimes these skills are just not transferable because the new job uses different systems.

Everyone should learn and be proficient at these 10 skills:

1) Word processing
2) Excel spreadsheet
3) Powerpoint presentations
4) Workplace Safety & Health
5) Lateral thinking
6) Social skills
7) Data management
8) Basic statistics
9) Teamwork
10)Personal enrichment

These are the necessary, basic, essential skills of the modern world.

Sadly, the schools here do not cover even 50% of these, such that we will produce unsuitable candidates for current and future jobs.

Productivity is another topic altogether.
