I discussed about the future of Hong Kong with a friend who is familiar with the business conditions there.
He is convinced that China will do well in the future, and that Hong Kong will benefit from it.
Hong Kong can continue to play a useful role as a bridge for China to do business in the world. Some countries will still hesitate to do business directly in China, and will use Hong Kong as that bridge.
It is also in China's interest that Hong Kong can play a useful role.
He is convinced that Hong Kong will do well economically. I agree with his assessment.

Yes, over the medium to long term, HK will do well. Even if China has to repopulate it with mainlanders. China will ensure the business- friendly and financial hub aspects to continue, even if freedom of speech & individual rights are reduced. Something like Singapore. HK will still be an anchor asset in their greater bay area setup.
Hence I still maintain HK investments as well as mainland investments.
