A challenge to prove an opinion

We are now at a phase where " I have a pretty good idea why votes are dropping. If I remove them, Tan Cheng Bock's might rise in size, aside from not being able to recruit the people that I deem are the right people?" So what do I do now? Leave them to their own devices like now or .......................?? Who says that managing is unchallenging??

Here’s the story, titled “Whose Job Is It, Anyway?”

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.

The story may be confusing but the message is clear: no one took responsibility so nothing got accomplished.

That person who challenged you obviously has not worked in MNC before, or if he has then he doesn't seem to be senior enough level to know what goes on in HR & Board level.

The simple answer is that intra corporate transfer (ict) IS NOT ceca, and ceca IS NOT ict.

Companies all along can bring in foreigners like Chinese, Americans, Europeans using ICT as well, since more than 10 years ago. Nothing to do with ceca or any trade agreement. It's part of Singapore's own MOM regulations.

CECA just makes it MUCH EASIER for India Indians to be employed either via ICT or thru direct application for work passes. The trade deal makes a lot of Indian Unis to be recognised by MOM for work passes like S-Pass & E-Pass. CECA also bans Singapore from using quota system to prevent India Indians from being granted work passes. CECA stipulates that there shouldn't be barriers to prevent each other's workforce from going to each other's country to work.

The entire CECA agreement is available online to read. It actually covers many things like tariffs, customs, investments, intellectual property, airlines etc. But for ordinary people, the most interesting will be Chapter 9 which talks about movement of workers.

You can find it in enterprisesg.gov.sg website. If you want to debate it, at least go read Chapter 9 first.

I would say that person is holed up at home all the time. Go walk around outside to see, you dont need figures to tell you the significant increased of those people.

There's also a lot of pinoys brought in doing office-based jobs. They compete directly with diploma holders as well as fresh Uni grads. A pinoy with 5 yrs experience doing IT hardware will be happy with $2.5K whereas a citizen will expect $3.5K for the same jobscope.

Hundreds of thousands of Malaysians & China Chinese are also brought in to compete in more blue collar jobs. These act to suppress the wages of ITE grads as well as our older less educated citizens. Those of us who are uni grads may not bother & may be happy as these foreigners help to lower cost of living -- but they do affect the less educated Singaporeans.

So it's not just CECA. The entire bringing in of foreign workers need to be re-evaluated & re-calibrated.
