Expensive watches

I heard that many people have invested in expensive watches in Singapore. This is how the watches are marketed.

* Usually, the wateches are from a well known brand name.

* The customer are told that the prices of the watches will increase in price by 10% or 20% soon. You have to buy the watches now to enjoy the low price.

* Many people bought the watches and paid $5,000 to $10,000 for each watch. They think that they have benefitted from the 10% to 20% discount.

Think again. What is the value of the watch? You can buy a good, practical watch for $100. Why do you have to pay $5,000 for a watch, just becuase it has a good brand name?

Agreed. The flipside is that some people like to have a well design watch is also good to have.

The good news is that well designed watches can also be purchased under $1000.

No brand, but looks good.

Luxury watch has its market just as a $5 watch will have hers.

When I got married in 1985, my parent in law gave me and my wife a set of Rolex Oyster, it was about $2000 a piece then.

It is good watch, until today.

I do not buy watch of such value, but I understand the similar model cost more than $5000 a piece today.

To some it is also a status symbol to wear a designer watch.

I agreed with Mr Tan, I don't even wear watch.

My handphone is my mp3 player, radio, organizer, telephone and watch.

This is a free world, many people with different preferences mean that a market exist for those who are willing buyer and seller. Some collector watch pieces are worth many times its original cost. Some collect stamps, others pictures, and so forth. It's like comparing a Chen Wen Hsi painting with an impressionist master, each has its own followers and those who care for something else

Get a normal vase because it is cheaper than an antique one. Both hold water and flower.

Life is short.

Buy anything which you like and enjoys. Most important, you must be happy to own them.

I have a few chinese antique porcelain plates. I feel very happy each time I take them out from the cabinet and examine them with a pair of glasses.

Life has taught me not to look for similarity at all times, but also appreciate the differences in others. Differences make life interesting. For me, I love my expensive watch as it reminds me of the importance of keeping and controlling time to achieve success in life. I define success in life as the ability to live in my own way - a life not based on other people's imposed opinions. I seek for a clear conscience and thank you for your attention on my sharing.
