Build a good work record

An mature worker approached me at a job fair. He asked for my assistance to use my influence to get a certain taxi company to rent the Mercedes taxi for his use. Apparently, this type of taxi is in high demand.

I suggested the following approach:

* rent the ordinary taxi (which is easily available)
* produce a good work record over one or two years
* after that, approach the taxi company to allow him to rent the Mercedes taxi

I hope that people can make progress by building a good work record, rather than to approach people to use their influence.

Frankly, I do not have this type of influence. Even if I had, I will not use it inappropriately.

I get to know a taxi driver with an entrepreneur mindset.

He is the leader of around 20 taxi drivers from different companies. They specialise at Shenton Way area from 8pm to 12MN each working day. It is very difficult to call a cab at Shenton way during these hours.

This group of taxi drivers has a coordinator who operate using a handphone.

These taxi drivers have a fixed clientele of few hundred people living in the East and West, away from traffic jams area.

As calling cab is very difficult from 8-12pm in Shenton way, their clients will sms the coordinator. The coordinator will inform the nearest taxi via radio.

My wife have been using their service over the past 6 months. She told me that they are much faster than trying to call a cab.

However these taxi drivers select their clients carefully to ensure they live outside traffic jams areas.
