Hi Mr Tan, why is NRIC needed?
I need it to verify the identity of the volunteers (but I will check only if necessary). You have to provide the NRIC anyway when you open a bank account, apply for a job, or visit a building (for security check).
I have received 70 volunteers and will be contacting them in due course. Thank you for the good response.
Mr Tan,
Any comments on what was mentioned by Prof Jayakumar today. I think he is making a direct reference to you, in his usual PAP-trained-political-engineering style.
Prof Jayakumar said he is "surprised and disappointed at statements made by some potential candidates on what they would do if elected as the next president".
He said some candidates seem to imply that the president is a separate centre of power, distinct from the government and that he has certain executive powers.
Thanks
The Mighty Pen
if PAP can create separate centre of power like MM, SM, and even choose to appoint TPL as MP, then the PEOPLE have the right to give the PRESIDENT power to do what is just!
I know of Mr. Tan Kin Lian is a knowledgeable man who is fully aware of an 'Elected President's legal rights and obligations.
I am equally "surprised and disappointed" at the need for our respected Prof Jayakumar to make that statement on some potential Presidential Candidates. I am a little confused by his intention. However, I am truly heartened to note of his wisdom NOT to join the contest.
For the sake of our country and the unity of the people, the people's wish to have a 'People's President' must be respected at all times.
I believe TKL loves and cares for his people if get elected.
