Should a minimum wage be introduced in Singapore?

40% said the minimum wage should apply only to local workers and not foreigners. 35% said we should have a minimum wage of $8 an hour. The remaining 25% prefer the current workfare system to continue.

I agree with a modest $8/hr -- this is only about $1300 for a full-time worker (5 day week).

I disagree with having only for locals. This will have similar effect as having CPF for locals & none for E-pass; it will simply result in discrimination against local workers.

Many don't want to support min wage & prefer status quo because they think taxes will go up higher. They don't realise that workfare is already from taxpayers monies & that there are about half a million workers on workfare currently.
