Bus arriving soon

I have been looking for a solution to show the arriving buses at an electronic display at bus stops. This is to help the older people with weak eyesight. A polytechnic lecturer told me that some countries have adopted a low cost system using wire mesh technology. How does it work?

Nobody replied to this posting about wire mess technology. There seems to be no engineers around.

All visitors of my blog appear to be good at economic forecasting and investing, which only needs IQ of 70.

It seems that even engineers decided to be in stock picking and market timing.

If I am not wrong, it works based on "micro-waves".

Imagine the atmosphere with many invisible points. All these can be connected by "micro-waves" or something like that. So it is possible to use this technology to transmit data like GPS.

I believe this could be "expensive" but common in "remote areas". I have a friend who is working on such MW technology and projects. I will link up for you to get more info.

Hi Mr Tan,

Now a days, one can carry the 'electronic board' with them, ie can find out the time of arriving buses thru one's mobile phone.

You may wish to check our SBS Transit's iris NextBus application. The 'iris' (Intelligent Route Info Syste) service offers bus arrival time estimation on a real time basis. It gives ppl the convenience of knowing how many minutes away the bus is from one's bus stop or how long more before the next bus departs from the bus interchange. iris NextBus is available on SBS Transit's website, via GPRS and sms on mobile devices.

For details, pls visit http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/iris/overview.aspx

Hope this addresses your query.

Best regards,
Sunshine
