Lessons from Cairo

There is an interesting article in SGEP about the lessons that Singapore can learn from the events in Egypt.

Still recovering from the shocking events happening in Egypt, our family just returned from a holiday there on Jan 5th.
Even on a DIY trip, we could not feel any social tension in the air,
no animosity between the people and the Govt, and there was plenty of food sold in the markets and restaurants. And then, this explosion of demostrations in Cairo
almost immediately after our return.
Could this happen in Singapore?
A calm before a storm? After an 18 day trip bumbling around Egypt, we hadn't a clue something is going to happen like this. Increditable.

Forget to add, our trip included Jordan also. The same calmness with the people going about with their lives.
Maybe with our strong S$, we did not feel food prices were astromically high, we only felt there may be not enough jobs for the young, but the speed of the turn of events really caught us by surprise.
With high inflation and the entry of foreigners grabbing jobs with Singaporeans, would such a thing happen here?
