Thoughts for the Day - Ho Cheow Seng

The form of law which I propose would be as follows: In a state which is desirous of being saved from the greatest of all plagues -- not faction, but rather distraction -- there should exist among the citizens neither extreme poverty nor, again, excessive wealth, for both are productive of great evil . . . Now the legislator should determine what is to be the limit of poverty or of wealth.": Plato (427-347 B.C.):

By 'distraction' Plato means that the 'citizens' are seduced by matters of no real importance so as to lose focus on issues that are crucial to their real well-being.

A case in point. The most distracting thing i can see happening is this blatant use of public funds to "educate" the public on how to be "gracious" in cleaning up the tables at the food courts by ourselves.
Honestly i think this exercise is wasting time and money. A food court has full time employees to manage the place. What is wrong with leaving plates after eating and not cleaning up ourselves to the tables reflect our face.

So long as one doesnt' intentionally vomit on the table of course, the average food court diner doesnt do that even.

It's like at a Restaurant, there's waiters and cleaners to clear the table. Why are we singaporeans accused of being bad again, we are sick of being beaten up endlessly by the govertnment, it is always our fault, never theirs. What an un-gracious government.
