Essentially the writer is hinting that, should a Bersih-like protest happen in Singapore, it would turn up disastrous, as the security units have no experience whatsoever in handling it.
The rumblings under the ground is akin to a simmering volcano, and once the lid is blown up, the lava spewing out would be ferocious and wide spread.
