Dear Mr. Tan

I was pleased to read your article on Singapore's "Culture to Avoid Responsibility". I believe you may be interested in an entertaining article which expands very well on this famous notion.
The rich and powerless of Sentosa Cove

Amazing, for someone who could afford to own a property on Sentosa Island, though only a small apartment as compared to his bangalow neighbours, would quibble over a $7 car entry fee.
Naive for him not to realise those who own and live there are those who are supposed to be filthy rich, where they could afford anything expensive in this tiny island, if not the whole world.
If he could not afford or unwilling to spend on this kind of lifestyle, just stop keeping up with Jonses, quit and move back to the mainland.
If the Sentosa SDC Management dun squeeze as much out of the noveau rich residents, then they must be fools. He should know every State Entity must be a revenue generating Organisation, apart from the Culture to avoid Responsibility and Accountability here in Singapore, with the Govt displaying the exemplary example, where the citizens just pick up and follow. The focus is on revenue, a basis where pay and bonuses are calculated, on similar lines of the Govt Ministers total remuneration package.
@"for someone who could afford to own a property on Sentosa Island"..."quibble over a $7 car entry fee."
(a) I don't agree with the above. When someone buys a property, especially landed ones, they enjoy "easements"...such as free access. This is "Land Law"...even if your property is surrounded all round by others', whether by lands, or even by waters, I supposed. Strictly speaking, that property also enjoys right of enjoyment of "sunlight" or even right of "support" of the neighbouring lands. It does not matter if it is LH or FH.
Just because it is Sentosa Cove, it makes no difference.
He had already bought the "land rights"...so why you restrict his "access"...because it is LH 99, not an issue? It does not matter how much or how little...such access shouldn't be restricted to his visitors too...obviously he is not Chia Thye Poh or Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest. LOL. Unless...the titles for Sentosa Cove is special and restrictive ... but if so then why pay so much to be under "house arrest". LOL
Precisely, it is with such said thinking that nobody cares....but the fact that a past-PE candidate and ex-MP involved because he stays there .... very interesting.
Empthatize the writer situation that any visitors have to pay to enter. How about the owners, do they have special pass? If so, they can drive out to pass to their visitors.
Ppl living within the CBD also faced the same.
Apsire to become richer to buy the entire Sentosa
