1. Should the employer be allowed to use a maid outside of the main place of work?

A lot can be said in terms of grey areas. We send our maid and 2 young( 3 & 7 years) children to my mother-in-

law's home in the morning when we go to work. We fetch them back to our way home when we finished work( maybe a few trust issues)

in the evening. My MIL is an ex-teacher and she takes care of the homework, while my maid

cooks and feeds them. Whatever she cooks for the children, she added in our dinner which she

pack home for us. When we all get home in the evening. we took over the children's duties

while she spent between 2 to 4 hours doing housework and ironing twice a week. It is in all

sides best interest that we are not asking her to work in 2 homes as she can only be at

1 place at a time?

A few years ago, while holidaying in Europe, my neighbors told us that our maid had Banglas
men in our home and looked like they were having a whale of a time. Subsequently, after that when we went away, we sent her to my brother's home for the duration. We had to give her instructions that during that period, her job is to just sit around and not to wash her own plates after eating, in case MOM decided in their Black and White that she was working in another home!

In some Asian Countries, people beat the system with corruption. In Singapore people beat the system by playing hide-and-seek. In conclusion, the systems were not perfect for people to have to behave by cheating?

Indo maids are a little well-behaved but lack the English language and communication problems.


Filipino maids are knowledgable about work and speak English well, but untrustworthy.

Those married ones are good in telling sob stories to advance pay sometimes up to 3 months to send back to children or mother.
