What's taking Gerald so long on the Ministerial Pay review.
All eyes are on poor old Gerald, a job we guess he's regretting now, with his arms being pulled on opposite ends.

For sure there will be a pay cut but the difficult question is "By how much?"

Too little, the whole exercise will be viewed as a joke.

Too much, and voters will ask why are the ministers so grossly overpaid in the first place.

And just nice, the middle path, is something that is difficult to decide. And it's minister pay, not an ordinary job pay.

And perhaps that's why, unlike bus fares, Gerald is taking so long to decide.

Example of how a Korean King (King Sejong) earned his salary;

Because of his egalitarian beliefs, King Sejong created Hangul (Korean alphabet) in 1443. To make literacy within easy reach for the common people and not just the elites.

King Sejong persisted despite opposition from the literary elite who were against widespread literacy and knowledge.

Numerous linguists now describe Hangul as "remarkable", and "the most perfect phonetic system devised"

The bad part is that this is taxpayers' money.

The good part is that the pay is a symptom of the beginning of the end.
When an organization starts to believe in its own bullshit, it usually signals the start of a downward spiral.

The fiascos over the last few years confirms my belief.
