Encourage car pooling

I attended a function at Shangri-la Hotel last night. There were 3 people in my car.

The road to Shangri-la was congested. Traffic moved slowly. It took 30 minutes just to clear the last kilometer.

On arriving at Shangri-la, there was no parking space. We were asked to park at the nearby apartments. There were three big functions at the hotel.

Guess what? Most of the people drove to the hotel alone. There was insufficient parking spaces.

I hope that there is some way to encourage people to take public transport or car pool. Maybe, this can be done through a contact center or website.

Good for you. I really dont like the Shangri-la area anyway. Its crowded with snobs and its good that they enjoy sitting in the car trying to squeeze together.

What is a nice guy like you doing in such a place?

Good thing you brought up "contact centre" and NOT "let's raise COE". But do you realise how useless that suggestion is for car owners?

A better suggestion is to raise parking charges at Shangri-La, or raise multiple ERP gantrys all around the hotel.

This will encourage people to employ drivers, use taxis, and walk.

You have good PR skills.

I see this situation in the morning when parents are sending their kids to school, again resulting in traffic congestion. It may be good if the school, hotel or event organisers give out prior advice on alternatives such as arranging for free shuttle pick up from nearby car parks or drop off points away from the area of congestion.
