Chance for change in Singapore

Read this article by Yoong Siew Wah.

My comment:
I believe that change will be good for Singapore. Several of the old economic and social policies have not been good for the people and need to be changed.

We need more daft voters in the coming election to make the change possible.

Allowing this government to carry on drawing a highly obscene salary without the same amount of accountability and transparency in running this country is foolish and irresponsible.

Believing that the ruling party is able self check within the party instead of an external check by a strong opposition is naive. For example, do you think a company's internal audit department will do a better job or an external audit team from an independent audit firm?

Mr Yoong should stand as an opposition candidate in the coming elections, he should join forces with CST of SPP and KJ of RP to make SDA a much stronger opposition alliance.

Most voters will look up on him since he used to be an ex director of ISD.

If he really do so, hope he will not end up like 2nd Francis Seow.

Yoong Siew Wah is wrong in one aspect - an oldie like me who is sixty one years old and a former staunch PAP supporter, is now totally disgusted with this Party, and wish to teach them a lesson at the next GE. Its arrogance, lies and unaccountability of its botched oversea investments pissed me off, regretting my former blind support for them.
So not only the young netizens are angry. Include us the ah peks and old aunties.

Like you, I also used to support pap and I casted my virgin vote for pap in the late 1990s. However, unlike you, I have no regret voting for pap back then because I thought they were doing a decent job at the time.

Having said that, I feel that the current group of pap ministers and MPs have lost touch totally with the people. There are many questions that we wanted answers but no answer is the answer we get from them.

Singapore belongs to Singaporeans. Singapore does not belong to any political party. PAP is only a political party currently governing Singapore but it is not Singapore. The government is accountable to Singaporean and not the other way round.
